Fun wine facts that might impress your pals at a cocktail party!

Good Morning!

As I have been learning more and more about wine, I have learned some interesting facts about wine and thought I’d share some of them with you. Some of the facts are interesting, some are ridiculous and the next time you are at a cocktail party you can use these and feel like Cliff Claven with your wine knowledge.

Wine is mentioned 521 times in the bible.

On a Champagne or Sparkling wine bottle, the cage (wire thing holding on the cork), there is always 5 full turns of the wire loop.

Average calories in a bottle of wine is 450-600.

Average glass of wine has 110 calories.

A standard 750 ml bottle of wine has 4-5 glasses in each bottle.

4 average sized clusters of grapes will produce 1 bottle of wine.

Approximately 75 grapes in each cluster.

Most vineyards plant 400 vines per acre.

1 acre will produce around 5 tons of grapes.

5 tons of grapes will produce approx. 330 cases of wine.

There is a winery in every single state in the United States.

The smell of a young wine is called an “aroma” but a more mature wine offers a more subtle “bouquet”.

The vintage is not the year the wine was bottled, it is the year the grapes were picked.

Red wine represents 55% of all wine sales in restaurants.

Have an awesome weekend!

Much LOVE and wine,

Tammi

My first glass of wine from #SXSW in Austin.
